‘Striving to make Kilburn Dementia Friendly’

Dementia Care Kilburn is a collaborative project between Kilburn Primary Care Co-Op Limited, Community Action on Dementia, Brent Dementia Peer Support Project, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, Brent Council, Age UK Brent and Ashford Place. Funded by Health Education England North West London, the project aims to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia, their families and carers by making Kilburn a ‘Dementia Friendly’ area in Brent. We understand that there are many reasons why people may delay seeking help about their memory, but through Dementia Care Kilburn we hope to raise awareness and understanding of dementia, bust some of the myths associated and help to improve access to support and advice. Through Dementia Care Kilburn we are running a local public information campaign, which includes health information on posters and leaflets, followed by a free public event to be held in the summer of 2017.

We are also planning a series of free face-to-face workshops to be held across the community where the public are invited to come and find out more information about what to do if you’re worried about your memory and how and where to seek help. Key dates, venues and times will be publicised shortly.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for collaboration across health, social care and the community to come together to make a difference for families affected by Dementia. It is important to raise awareness and improve understanding of dementia so that everyone can play their part to support patients to live well at home.”
